As exam week draws closer, the rising stress levels can be felt throughout the college. But fear not, we are here to give you some top tips to make sure that this period goes as smoothly as possible.
Know Your Tutor
It is very important to know who your tutor is before your exams.
If you miss an exam because you are sick or get sick during an exam, the tutor will be the one to rearrange your exam for you at a later date.
You can find your tutor details on your mytcd portal.

Know Your Exam
Past exam papers are a great indication of the style of the exam, so we would recommend checking out your module exam papers here.
We wouldn’t recommend using past exam papers as a prediction for future exams, but they can definitely help with preparations!

Know Your Exam Venue
Exams can take place in Trinity OR off campus in the RDS, Ballsbridge. Please make sure to check where your venue is. If it is off campus, then make sure you know how to get to the RDS from your accommodation. The number 7a and 4 buses go past the RDS.
You can check bus routes here.

Know Your Exam Rules
Exams have a certain set of rules such as no phones, notes, the usual.
Always check your exam number on your mytcd portal because that is the number that you put down on your answer papers.
When you arrive at your venue, there will be a list with names where you can find your seat number and you must sit in that seat only. This will change for each exam. You will need ID for each exam, the Trinity ID is best but you can use your Leapcard or your passport.
You are also not allowed to leave the room half an hour at the start of the exam and half an hour before the end of the exam – this includes toilet breaks so be sure to go before your exam starts.

Know What to Bring
It is essential to bring all that you need for the exam – pencils, pens, rulers, calculators, erasers. You will not be allowed to borrow stationery from other students (if desperate, exam invigilators will find something for you but it’s best to be on the safe side). All your stationery should be put into a see-through pencil case or plastic bag.
If you require log books, a mathematical book with mathematical rules and equations, it will be given to you at the exam.
If you are sitting your exams in the RDS, be sure to bring a jumper or something warm – it is a large venue and can get quite cold.
You are allowed to bring in bottles of water that don’t have any labels on them as well as some food.

Know Your Limits!
Exams can be very stressful and it is important to know when to take a break and do something fun. Whatever your idea of fun is, it is important to allow yourself time to relax and unwind. And most importantly, sleep is very necessary! If you want to perform better, getting a good night’s sleep is a great start.
We hope these tips help and that your exams go well! Exams can be draining both mentally and physically so be kind to yourself! For more tips, check out our blog Top tips to look after yourself during exam season.
