Phoenix Park

If you love walking through miles and miles of lush greenery then Phoenix Park is the place for you. The park offers over 7 kilometres of uninterrupted nature, perfect for a nice relaxing snack. Go sit near some of the rose gardens and take in the fresh air.

The park is located in the northwest of Dublin, and picnicking provides the perfect excuse to go and check out a new part of the city. You can
walk there from Trinity College in about 40 minutes or catch the Dublin
bus. Either way you’ll get to see an entire new part of the city and have
the chance to explore some new favourite spots.

The park is at its prime in the Spring when its various gardens are in full bloom and provide the perfect backdrop to a picturesque picnic.

St. Stephen’s Green

Located just a five minute walk from Trinity’s campus, St. Stephen’s green sits at the heart of the city and offers scenic views of its many gardens and ponds for visitors to enjoy. You can go sit under the gazebo and watch the swans in the pond or lie down on the grass and enjoy the smell of fresh flowers.

Its Parisian style gardens offer a great variety of walks around the park, perfect for a post picnic walk. Near St. Stephen’s Green has many great spots to pick up some quick snacks like Dunnes, Tesco, and Spar. Its convenient location makes it the perfect place for an in-between class snacking session.

St. Stephen’s green is at its best in both the Fall and Spring. In the fall, a nice charcuterie board pairs perfectly with the leaves changing. In the spring, the bright blooming flowers work well with any fun festive drinks.

Iveagh Gardens

For our last pick, Iveagh gardens is truly Dublin’s hidden gem. Situated right in the heart of Harcourt, the gardens are a quick 15 minute walk from Trinity’s campus and only 2 stops away on the LUAS.

The Iveagh gardens offer a quiet escape from Dublin’s busy city. Its vast green spaces, greco-roman statues, and fountains make for the perfect picnic. Its cosy feeling is perfect for a brisk winter morning coffee or a summer lemonade.

It is a truly one of a kind park in Dublin, and one many people do not know about. Watch out for Finance Bros and Consultants during lunch hour, but otherwise be prepared for a quiet backdrop to complement any occasion.

In all, Dublin has so many great spots to offer for anyone looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of Dublin and touch grass. These gardens are a great excuse to explore and see what Dublin has to offer.
