One of the many benefits of being a student at Trinity is the wide range of support services that are available. Many of these are free of charge or are available to Trinity students at reduced rates.

Careers Advisory Service
Between graduate programmes, Master’s, and other postgrad degrees, deciding on a career path after your undergraduate course is exciting and terrifying. Luckily, the Careers Advisory Service is available to offer you some practical steps on next steps.
Located just off main campus on the second floor of 7-9 South Leinster Street, the Careers Advisory service offer a host of services to students. Individual appointments can be booked online, where you can speak one-on-one with a career guidance counsellor.
These focus on the different options for after university and current steps that can be taken to gather relevant experience. CV and LinkedIn reviews are also available for a small fee. Further practice interviews are available, lasting approximately 20 minutes with feedback afterwards. These can be invaluable for those with little or no experience of interviewing at a professional or academic level.

Student2Student
When you first come to Trinity you will be assigned a Student2Student mentor. These mentors will give you a tour in Fresher’s week and provide you with an opportunity to mingle with your course mates before lectures start. Throughout the year they will send you emails about events and useful information regarding your course.
For students looking for more support, Student2student also offer trained peer supporters. These are students trained intensively in non-judgemental active listening and support. Trust us when we say that there will be times during university when this kind of support will be invaluable. All meetings with peer supporters are strictly confidential.

3. Student Counselling Service
The Student Counselling Service offers free, confidential and non-judgemental support, with each registered student being entitled to eight free counselling sessions per annum. One-to-one counselling aside, students can avail of a range of other services. Their offices are located just off campus on the third floor, 7-9 Leinster Street.
If you’re not sure what service you could benefit the most from, you can schedule a ‘SNAP’ session. This is a student’s first meeting with the Student Counselling Service and stands for a ‘Support & Needs Assessment Planning’ session. During a SNAP appointment you meet with a clinician for a conversation about what you are experiencing and it helps identify what resources might be most helpful to meet your needs. The goal of this appointment is to get you connected with the most effective and least time/energy intensive option to get your needs met.

As a Trinity student, you are automatically a member of the TCD Student Union and are entitled to access all the supports they provide. TCD Student Union represents all undergraduate students of the college, fighting for their rights, and providing them with the supports to have a happy and successful college experience.
TCDSU is run by five full-time Sabbatical Officers, elected annually by the student body each February. The officers are made up of the President, the Education Officer, the Welfare Officer, the Communications Officer and the Ents Officer. Their offices are located upstairs in House 6 in Front Square.
- The President of the Union represents the students before the college on a variety of levels, and is in charge of campaigns and the general operations of the union.
- The Education Officer provides support to students with any academic issues, as well as acting as Vice President of the Union.
- The Welfare Officer provides students with supports for their mental, emotional, and physical health throughout the year. They also offer students in need with small short-term loans, and also provide free sanitary products and condoms at their office in House 6.
- The Marketing and Communications Officer is responsible for public relations and is also involved in securing sponsorship and advertisements for the Union throughout the year.
- The Ents Officer organises both daytime and nighttime events to provide Trinity’s hardworking students with a chance to let their hair down.
Of course, TCDSU is far more than just five officers. There are hundreds of other students who represent you at different levels and are vital to the running of the Union, including school convenors and class reps.
These provide students with the opportunity to get involved with the union and student representation. Class representatives represent their own courses and are elected at the start of each academic year.
